Gollnow &amp; Sohn=<br /> <br /> Die Firma J. Gollnow &amp; Sohn war eine Karlsruher Firma, die sich auf den Stahlhoch- und Brückenbau spezialisiert hatte. Sie wurde 1833 in Stettin gegründet. Das Vorrücken der Roten Armee nach Westen während des &lt;lex id=&quot;ereig-0074&quot;&gt;Zweiten Weltkriegs&lt;/lex&gt; führte dazu, dass kurz vor Kriegsende wesentliche Teile des Unternehmens nach Mitteldeutschland verlagert werden mussten, wo bereits zwei größere Zweigstellen bestanden. Infolge der Zoneneinteilung verblieben diese jedoch in der sowjetischen Besatzungszone und wurden anschließend in der DDR als Volkseigener Betrieb (VEB) genutzt. Ein großer Teil der Maschinen und Geräte konnte allerdings rechtzeitig in die britische und amerikanische Zone gebracht werden, von wo aus die Niederlassung nach Baden betrieben wurde. Die Entscheidung fiel auf Karlsruhe, weil die Stadt eine besondere Aufnahmebereitschaft für die Ansiedlung von Firmen zeigte. Im August 1946 kam es mit der Karlsruher Stadtverwaltung zum Vertragsabschluss für den Bau eines neuen Werks im &lt;lex id=&quot;ins-1511&quot;&gt;Rheinhafen&lt;/lex&gt; in der &lt;lex id=&quot;top-1085&quot;&gt;Hansastraße&lt;/lex&gt; 7-9.<br /> <br /> Mit seinen 400 Mitarbeitern (1948) stellte J. Gollnow &amp; Sohn insofern eine Ausnahme dar, als sich in den ersten Nachkriegsjahren im Rheinhafen hauptsächlich Kleinbetriebe niedergelassen hatten. Im Januar 1947 konnte die Arbeit in den neu errichteten Werksräumen aufgenommen werden. Daneben verfügte der Betrieb über einen eigenen Eisengroßhandel. 1957 beschäftige das Unternehmen mehr als 500 Mitarbeiter. Es war verantwortlich für den Stahlhochbau verschiedener Karlsruher Kaufhäuser sowie für Industriebauten der BASF in Ludwigshafen. Darüber hinaus tätigte es Exporte nach Südamerika, Ägypten, Irak und Australien. 1968 übernahmen Rudolf Vollack aus Stettin und Heinrich Weick die Führung des Unternehmens, das in Vollack Stahlhochbau umbenannt wurde. Heute firmiert es unter dem Namen Vollack Hallen- und Stahlbau GmbH &amp; Co.
