Die nachhaltigste Neuansiedlung der Nachkriegszeit war die Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH &amp; Co. KG. Die auf die Herstellung und den Vertrieb homöopathischer Arzneimittel spezialisierte Firma war 1866 von dem Apotheker Dr. Willmar Schwabe (1839-1917) in Leipzig gegründet worden. Hier wurden pflanzliche Tinkturen fabrikmäßig hergestellt, die vor allem als Grundstoff für homöopathische Arzneien dienten.<br /> <br /> Aufgrund der Enteignung des Leipziger Betriebes nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wählten die Brüder Willmar und Wolfgang Schwabe 1946 Durlach als neuen Standort. Dies war eigentlich eher Zufall, doch gerade die Klimabedingungen der Oberrheinischen Tiefebene sowie die fruchtbaren Böden förderten die Anlage pflanzlicher Kulturen. Willmar und Wolfgang Schwabe mieteten zunächst Produktionsräume von der Firma &lt;lex id=&quot;ins-0083&quot;&gt;Gritzner&lt;/lex&gt; in der &lt;lex id=&quot;top-0995&quot;&gt;Gritznerstraße&lt;/lex&gt; 11 an. 1951 begannen die Bauarbeiten für einen Neubau am Durlacher Bahnhof 4 (heute &lt;lex id=&quot;top-2979&quot;&gt;Willmar-Schwabe-Straße&lt;/lex&gt; 4), der 1965 und 1989 erweitert wurde. <br /> <br /> 1961 wurden die Arbeitsbereiche Homöopathie und Phytopharmaka durch die Gründung der Deutschen Homöopathie-Union getrennt, 1980 wurde die Farmasan gegründet und 1986 Spitzner Arzneimittel dazugekauft. Heute ist das Haus Schwabe in Karlsruhe-Durlach der Sitz der in den letzten Jahrzehnten entstandenen &quot;Unternehmensgruppe Schwabe&quot;.
